We were lucky enough to be able to spend a full 3 weeks in Hong Kong; thanks to a generous friends family putting us up for free! We got to take a closer look at the typical things to do in Hong Kong, but also get a glance at some of the more unusual!
Hong Kong is a concrete jungle with uncounted things to do and see there. We were ill for most of the trip so didn’t tick off the typical bucket list items as we were coming back at a later date! I still think we had an awesome time in our 4 days…
Beijing had me in two minds. On the one hand the incredible things we saw there were the highlight of the trip so far. On the downside, I suffered massive culture shock. I really struggled to get along with the city and some of the more unfavourable aspects of life there.
During our stay in Beijing we visited the Great Wall of China, as expected! However, we fancied a trip away from the hustle and bustle of Beijing. Not so easy to find on one of the Wonders of the World…or so we thought! Read on to find out how we had the Great Wall of China to ourselves!
China is a surreal place. I think what I experienced is commonly referred to as ‘Culture Shock’. And I was shocked. Many times. I also loved it and have written another article about all the reasons why China is great. But this is not that article! Unlike practical things you can prepare for, the things I talk about here are just things you have to accept.
